Hummingbird Feeder | Hummingbird Feeders for Outdoors Hanging, Windows

Food is fuel and Hummingbird nectar is high octane. Hummingbirds eat more than their weight in food each day. To do so Hummingbirds eat often and their survival depends on eating more frequently than any other animal. Hummingbirds constantly face the threat of starvation. Cater to their needs. Most important, be sure to keep your feeders clean and your nectar fresh for the health of the birds.

A hummingbird feeder is a type of bird feeder specifically designed to attract and feed hummingbirds. Hummingbirds are small, energetic birds that are attracted to sweet nectar and bright colors. Some features of a hummingbird feeder may include:

  • A small size to accommodate the tiny bodies of hummingbirds
  • A bright, colorful design to attract hummingbirds
  • A nectar reservoir to hold a sugary liquid that hummingbirds can drink
  • Ports or openings where hummingbirds can access the nectar
  • A perch for hummingbirds to rest on while feeding
  • A sturdy, weather-resistant construction to withstand outdoor conditions

To use a hummingbird feeder, you will need to fill the nectar reservoir with a mixture of water and granulated white sugar. The ratio is usually four parts water to one part sugar. You can then hang the feeder in a location where it will be easy for hummingbirds to find and access, such as near a flowering plant or in an open area. Be sure to clean the feeder regularly to prevent the build-up of mold and bacteria, which can be harmful to the birds.
